With 3D-Printed 'Steaks,' Spanish Startup Eyes Mass Market

Novameat is using three-dimensional (3D) printing technology to produce vegetarian "steaks," which it plans to sell directly to consumers and businesses.

The Spanish startup demonstrated its 3D printing technology at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress.

Novameat's Alexandre Campos said the process, which involves pushing ingredients through capsules, is less expensive than mass-producing its products.

Campos said the company's goal is to recreate muscle fibers using 100% plant-based ingredients.
